Yo! My name is Benji and I’m Anishinaabe (White Earth). I’ve been in a bunch of punk bands over the years, most recently a band in Seattle called My Parade, an intentionally all-POC political dance punk band. Alex Miranda of Underpass released our LP a couple years ago, too! Here’s a video of us playing a show in Toronto while on tour a couple summers ago (I’m the drummer):
Thanks Benji for the submission! Thats wild, I saw My Parade back when they played the POC ZP event in Seattle this last October. I had no idea there was a Native in the group. How rad!! Nice to meet cha. I know Andy and Alex already, nice to meet more Seattle folks. Hope to see ya’ll play soon.
** Edit: Oh oops, Benji wrote me and said he is no longer playing drums in My Parade. Ponyboy is on drums these days. But happy to catch some footage while you were there, Benji! **
Guillermo Gomez-Pena getting authentic as fuck in here with “Instant Identity Ritual”. A classic.
